Green Building Practices Will Keep Our Planet Clean

Conservation conscious architects and builders now implement many new green building practices to conserve energy. They try to put up sustainable buildings. This means they strive to save energy as much as possible.

An environmentally friendly building will use natural resources as conservatively as possible. Keeping the water supply clean is equally important. You will save the environment and save money at the same time. The American Institute of Architects developed a set of rules called IGCC V. 1.0. These guidelines are available to the public. They promote the concept of sustainable building practices. These rules are suggested for the International community.

Natural building is a concept that tries to use local materials to build rather than trucking in new materials from far away. This conserves gas, reduces emissions from the trucks that would ship the materials. The cost and impact on the planet are greatly reduced.

Water can easily be heated with solar energy. Put solar panels on the roof to collect sun rays for later use as power. A home in the warmer climates can have all its energy needs supplied this way. Cold climates will need additional heat sources in winter. Law was enacted in California to make it a legal requirement to always implement energy saving building methods. Protecting the environment and saving energy is easy when everyone pitches in. The law is Executive Order S 20 4.

Back in the 1970s there was an energy crisis. People drove less and bought smaller fuel efficient cars. Fossil fuel will not replenish within any reasonable length of time. Solar power, wind power and other renewable resources are all being developed.

Renewable resources are being considered for building. One specific example is bamboo, which has the advantage of rapid growth, thus replenishing the supply in a short time. Terms such as passive solar and active solar, green roofs and rain gardens are becoming part of our everyday conversation.

The rules to follow are named in a document called the IGCC V. 1.0. It is applicable to International locations. Sustainable practice will use solar collectors, solar water heaters and renewable materials to build with. This code was developed by The American Institute of Architects. If you do not try to conserve energy, use green construction to build a home you will be assisting in saving the planet for future generations. You can live a good life while maintaining energy saving habits. Green building practices will save energy as well as money in addition to having other health benefits.
