Allergy Free Foods Or Recipes
Published by Fred at March 25th, 2010Today, it seems more than ever, that people have allergies to certain foods. Eating foods that a person has an allergy to can cause many different symptoms. Some of the symptoms may be very mild while others can be severe or even death. If you have a food allergy, access to allergy free foods or recipes can make life much more enjoyable.
Many people are discovering that they are allergic to gluten. Gluten is found in wheat and several other grains. It helps bread to be fluffy and soft. The product is so common that many persons who have this allergy find it difficult to eat outside the home and must prepare their own meals.
Lactose causes an allergic reaction in some persons. Lactose is milk sugar and found in many dairy products. Lactose can cause persons with the allergy to have an upset stomach. Fortunately there are several substitutes that can be made for dairy products.
Nut allergies can be particularly frightening. These allergies may cause anaphylaxis, which is deadly if not treated immediately. The allergy can be so severe that persons with a nut allergy should not even eat foods processed in the same plant as nuts. Persons with milder allergies to nuts may suffer gastric upset.
An allergy to eggs can cause the cook to need to change recipes calling for eggs. In addition, make sure that your physician is reminded of the allergy before receiving any inoculation, as eggs sometime serve as the media in which the medication is stored. If you cook for a person with an allergy to eggs, look for recipes that allow you to prepare foods without eggs.
If you have a food allergy to a less common food, you may be able to simply avoid eating the food. Persons who have an allergy to shell fish simply choose other seafood when eating out with the family. This normally avoids any problems.
